Our client, a distinguished and expanding London law firm, is looking to welcome a Corporate & Commercial Partner to establish and lead a new Corporate Commercial department. We are seeking a highly experienced Corporate & Commercial Partner who is eager to take on a leadership role and create a thriving practice from the ground up. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering expert corporate legal services while building a dynamic team and driving business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Department Setup and Growth
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for establishing and expanding the Corporate & Commercial department.
- Create operational procedures and best practices to ensure efficiency and high-quality service delivery.
- Recruit, build, and lead a team of talented solicitors and support staff, nurturing a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Legal Expertise
- Provide expert advice on a range of corporate matters, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate finance, and commercial contracts.
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal agreements, ensuring clarity and protection for all parties involved.
- Keep abreast of relevant laws and regulations, ensuring compliance in all client dealings.
Financial Management
- Set and achieve financial targets for the Corporate Commercial department, ensuring growth and profitability.
- Oversee budgeting, billing, and collections to maintain a robust financial performance.
- Monitor the department’s financial metrics, making adjustments to drive success and sustainability.
Client Management
- Collaborate with the Dispute Resolution department to handle referral work, providing seamless service across departments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, identifying opportunities for cross-selling and enhanced service provision.
- Deliver high-quality legal advice on a variety of corporate and commercial matters, ensuring exceptional client care.
Business Development
- Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new clients and raise the firm's profile within the corporate commercial sector.
- Represent the firm at key industry events, conferences, and networking functions to build brand visibility.
- Work closely with other departments to deliver comprehensive legal solutions that meet the diverse needs of clients.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor in England and Wales.
- Minimum of 10 years PQE in corporate and commercial law.
Experience
- Proven experience managing high-value corporate transactions and complex commercial matters.
- A strong track record in client relationship management and successful business development.
- Experience in a leadership or partnership role, ideally with experience in setting up or expanding a legal department.

- Strong leadership and team management skills, capable of fostering growth and collaboration.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on client satisfaction.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in drafting and negotiating complex legal documents.
