The Role • Conduct advocacy in Crown Court proceedings for serious criminal offences including fraud, violence, and regulatory matters • Represent clients at police stations under the duty solicitor scheme and private instructions • Manage complex criminal caseloads from initial arrest through to trial and appeal • Provide expert legal advice to clients facing serious criminal charges • Prepare comprehensive case strategies and coordinate with barristers where appropriate • Handle terrorism-related matters and serious organised crime cases • Conduct client conferences and maintain strong client relationships • Ensure compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and case management protocols • Mentor junior staff and contribute to business development activities • Work collaboratively with the wider criminal defence team

 

 

• Qualified solicitor with Higher Rights of Audience (Criminal) or working towards qualification • Police Station Accreditation essential • Minimum 3+ years' experience in serious criminal defence work • Proven Crown Court advocacy experience across a range of serious offences • Strong knowledge of criminal law, procedure, and evidence • Experience with Legal Aid and private criminal work • Excellent communication and client care skills • Ability to work under pressure and manage demanding caseloads
