The Role: Building Your Corporate Tax Expertise

As Corporate Tax Senior, you'll work on a varied portfolio of corporate tax compliance and advisory work, supporting managers and partners whilst developing your technical skills and client relationship capabilities. You'll gain exposure to diverse sectors and complex tax matters whilst working in a supportive team environment.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Advisory:
  • Preparing corporation tax computations and returns for a diverse client portfolio
  • Managing tax compliance deadlines and ensuring accurate, timely submissions
  • Assisting with tax planning projects including group restructuring, capital allowances, and R&D tax credits
  • Supporting HMRC enquiries and correspondence under manager supervision
  • Reviewing financial statements for tax implications and planning opportunities
Client Service & Relationship Management:
  • Acting as day-to-day contact for assigned clients, building strong working relationships
  • Preparing tax advice letters and client communications on technical matters
  • Attending client meetings with managers and partners to discuss tax planning strategies
  • Identifying cross-selling opportunities and proactive tax planning ideas
Technical Development & Team Contribution:
  • Supervising and mentoring junior team members and trainees
  • Reviewing junior staff work to ensure accuracy and technical quality
  • Contributing to team training sessions and technical knowledge sharing
  • Staying current with tax legislation changes and their impact on clients
  • Supporting business development initiatives including proposals and pitches
Practice Development:
  • Using tax software efficiently (CCH, Alphatax, or similar platforms)
  • Contributing to process improvements and efficiency initiatives
  • Participating in practice development activities and networking events

What You'll Need to Succeed

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • ATT or CTA qualified (or part-qualified and studying towards completion)
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience in corporate tax within a UK accountancy practice
  • Strong technical knowledge of corporation tax compliance and computations
  • Experience with tax software (CCH, Alphatax, or similar platforms)

Technical Skills & Expertise:

  • Solid understanding of UK corporation tax legislation and compliance requirements
  • Experience preparing tax computations and corporation tax returns
  • Knowledge of capital allowances, R&D tax credits, and other tax reliefs
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Professional Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) for client interaction
  • Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Team player with willingness to support colleagues and mentor juniors
