Social Housing Litigation Solicitor
Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Salary: £45,000 to £65,000 plus discretionary bonus
Experience: 1–6 years’ PQE
If you’re a qualified solicitor in litigation and want a role that is genuinely varied, fast-paced and client-facing, this is a brilliant opportunity to join an established Social Housing Litigation team in Newcastle.
You’ll support senior lawyers across a broad range of social housing matters, working closely with key clients including housing associations and local authorities.
The Opportunity
This role offers a strong mix of contentious work and advisory support, with the chance to take real ownership of matters, build trusted client relationships and contribute to business development in a supportive, collaborative team.

Manage and advise on litigation relating to tenancy breaches and anti-social behaviour

Handle possession and injunction applications

Defend housing disrepair claims brought by tenants

Advise on tenancy clauses, succession, mutual exchange and assignment issues

Attend and represent clients at court hearings

Contribute to business development initiatives to strengthen and expand client relationships

Supervise and support junior members of the litigation team where appropriate
About You
Essential
-
Qualified solicitor in England and Wales

Experience in social housing litigation

Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance cost and benefit

Ability to work to challenging timescales while maintaining excellent client service

Strong attention to detail and clear communication skills

Sound professional judgement and a proactive approach

Effective diary and administration management, including time recording

Strong prioritisation skills and the ability to work with urgency

Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
