Senior Associate – Projects & Construction
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £75,000 to £95,000 + bonus (dependent on experience)
Experience: 5+ years’ PQE
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction lawyer to join a leading Projects & Construction team in Birmingham, advising on a broad range of non-contentious construction matters, procurement and major projects.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across real estate, planning, procurement, tax, energy and sustainability, supporting clients through the full lifecycle of development, from structuring and procurement through to delivery and asset management.
The Opportunity

Advise a broad client base including contractors, developers, registered providers and public sector bodies

Provide construction-related procurement advice, particularly for public sector clients

Advise on development projects through design and construction
-
Draft, negotiate and advise on construction contracts and associated documentation, with a focus on risk management

Advise on asset management and maintenance contracts

Support decarbonisation and retrofit projects, including publicly funded schemes
-
Advise on infrastructure projects
-
Support publicly funded housing organisations on development schemes and asset management arrangements

Provide construction due diligence support to real estate, corporate and banking teams on acquisitions and disposals

Build and maintain strong client relationships and contribute to excellent service delivery

Take an active role in marketing and business development initiatives

Manage files with appropriate autonomy and supervise junior colleagues where needed
What We’re Looking For
Essential
-
Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
-
5+ years’ PQE with strong experience in construction law
-
Proven ability to take responsibility and manage matters independently where appropriate
-
Excellent technical skills and strong drafting ability
-
Strong client focus and high standards of service delivery
-
Commercial awareness and good judgement
-
Methodical, disciplined and organised approach

Excellent communication skills and a collaborative working style
Desirable

Experience advising public sector clients on procurement and delivery of construction projects

Experience supporting decarbonisation, retrofit or building safety related programmes
-
Experience advising on a mix of development, infrastructure and asset management work
