Accounting Manager (Practice)

Salary: £50,000–£65,000 DOE

Location: Manchester (Hybrid)

You will take ownership of key client relationships, lead on accounts delivery, and play a visible role in developing both people and portfolio.
 

The Opportunity

This is a client-facing Accounting Manager position focused on supporting entrepreneurs and owner-managed businesses. You will act as the main point of contact, delivering high-quality accounts and advisory support while helping to drive excellent service standards across the team.
 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
  • Be the primary point of contact, building trusted, long-term relationships
  • Review and oversee the preparation of statutory accounts and management accounts
  • Provide commercial, proactive advice to support client decision-making
  • Support and review the work of junior team members (where applicable)
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure deadlines, quality, and client expectations are met

 

Requirements (What We’re Looking For)

  • 4–5+ years’ UK accountancy practice experience (post-qualified or qualified by experience)
  • Strong experience managing owner-managed business clients and acting as the main contact
  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) preferred
  • Technical capability across:
    • Statutory accounts preparation and review (UK GAAP)
    • Management accounts
    • VAT compliance (and advising where appropriate)
  • Confident communicator with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Organised, deadline-driven, and comfortable managing multiple client priorities

 

Salary, Location & Working Arrangement

  • Salary: £50,000–£65,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Location: Manchester
  • Working pattern: Hybrid working (mix of office and home working, details confirmed at interview)
