Intellectual Property, Commercial and Technology Senior Associate / Legal Director
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £85,000 to £110,000 (depending on experience)
Experience: 7+ PQE
Our client is looking to appoint a Senior Associate / Legal Director into its Birmingham office within its national Intellectual Property, Commercial and Technology team.
This is a senior, varied role for a commercial lawyer who enjoys being close to clients, drafting and negotiating complex agreements, and advising across IP, IT, data protection and wider compliance. You’ll join a business that invests heavily in its people, rewards those who help it grow (including bonus and Sharesave), and supports flexible working.
You will work with a diverse client base and handle a broad spread of commercial, IP and technology matters. The role suits someone who can run matters independently, supervise and support others where needed, and build trusted relationships with clients.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including:
- Product supply and distribution
- Logistics, warehousing and supply chain agreements
- Managed service contracts
- Facilities management agreements
- Advising on IT and technology agreements, including software licensing, SaaS and system integration projects
- Providing non-contentious intellectual property advice, including IP licensing
- Managing trade mark portfolios and supporting on IP disputes
- Advising clients on data protection compliance, including UK GDPR and wider UK privacy law
- Advising on compliance topics including bribery and modern slavery
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring a high level of service
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) with a current practising certificate
- Minimum 7 years’ PQE with strong experience across commercial contracts and advisory work
- Exposure to a mix of commercial, IP, IT/technology, procurement and projects work
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and commercially
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple matters under pressure
- High level of professionalism and integrity
- Comfortable working independently, while also collaborating closely with colleagues
