If you’re a property paralegal (or junior solicitor) who wants proper, hands-on exposure to commercial property and residential new build work, this is a strong opportunity to join our client’s busy East London team. You’ll be working closely with experienced fee earners on developer-led transactions, with structured support and a genuine pathway to becoming an independent fee earner.

This is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the detail, wants to build technical confidence quickly, and is looking for a role where development is more than just a promise.

The Role (Commercial & Residential Property)

This is a full-time, permanent role within our client’s Commercial and Residential Property teams, with a strong focus on:
  • Commercial property transactions
  • Residential new build plot sales (primarily acting for developers)
You’ll work alongside supervising fee earners and, as you progress, take ownership of suitable matters with mentoring and oversight.

  • Drafting standard commercial and residential property contracts
  • Assisting with ancillary commercial documents including:
    • Option agreements
    • Conditional purchase agreements
    • Deeds of grant
  • Supporting residential new build plot sales: preparing draft contracts/leases, issuing legal packs, liaising with estate agents
  • Reviewing pre-contract enquiries as first point of review before escalation
  • Assisting with auction purchases and sales
  • Supporting portfolio refinancing transactions, with scope to manage your own refinancing files as you develop
  • Preparing corporate documents linked to refinancing, including:
    • Board minutes
    • Resolutions
    • Director certificates

Requirements (Experience & Skills)

To be considered, you should have:
  • Previous experience in commercial and/or residential property (paralegal experience essential; junior solicitors considered depending on background)
  • A strong academic foundation and solid legal research capability
  • Familiarity with Practical Law (PLC) precedents (highly desirable)
  • Strong IT skills and confidence using case management systems
  • Ability to open, manage, and maintain files with good attention to detail
You’ll also need to be comfortable working with minimal secretarial support, taking responsibility for your own admin and file management.

Working Arrangements & Benefits

  • Salary: £30,000–£35,000 depending on experience
  • Office-based role in East London (in-person supervision and training is a key part of the opportunity)
  • Training and mentoring from experienced fee earners
  • Progression pathway towards becoming an independent fee earner
  • Potential for hybrid/remote consideration in future, subject to experience, performance, and team needs
