Private Client Lawyer (Solicitor or FCILEX)
Location: Wetherby area (office-based)
Salary: £38,000 to £50,000 (dependent on experience)
Experience: Private client training and experience required (trusts desirable)
Our client is recruiting a Private Client Lawyer (Solicitor or FCILEX) to join a busy Private Client department.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid grounding in private client work who wants to build confidence and capability in a supportive team environment, with supervision available.
The Role
You will support a varied private client caseload, delivering an excellent service to high-net-worth individuals.
The caseload will include:
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Solicitor or FCILEX qualification
- Training and education in private client work with a strong understanding of:
- Court of Protection matters
- Good working knowledge of inheritance tax for tax planning and estate administration, with the ability to draft appropriate documentation
- Understanding of capacity and undue influence issues
- Understanding of the different grants of representation and how to apply for them
- Strong drafting accuracy (deeds, LPAs, wills, estate accounts and figures)
- Ability to explain technical documents in plain English
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A client-first approach and commitment to being accessible
- Ability to evaluate information in complex situations and make sound decisions, while knowing when to ask for help
- Willingness to accept feedback and develop
- Positive attitude to change and innovation
- Collaborative approach with colleagues and external professionals
Desirable:
- Trusts experience and/or additional trusts education
- Experience working to quality standards such as Lexcel and/or WiQS
