Job Description

Commercial Solicitor (Dedicated Client Lead)

Salary: £50,000–£60,000+

Location: London (Hybrid)

Direct access to a high-growth tech client

If you’re a commercial solicitor who enjoys pace, autonomy, and being trusted as the “go-to” adviser, this role is built for you. You’ll take ownership of a dedicated client relationship and run the day-to-day legal workflow with real influence, fast decision-making, and a varied commercial contract mix.

This is a permanent, full-time position with an immediate/ASAP start (or shortest possible notice). You’ll be the primary point of contact for a UK-headquartered technology business operating at genuine scale-up speed — so responsiveness, confidence, and strong drafting are essential.

The Opportunity

Dedicated Client Lead – day-to-day ownership

You will act as the primary legal contact for one key client, managing their commercial matters end-to-end and working closely with founders and senior commercial stakeholders.

High-volume, fast-paced commercial work

This is an almost entirely non-contentious role, with a strong focus on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements.

What You’ll Be Doing

Commercial drafting & negotiation (core focus)

Expect a workload heavily weighted towards drafting/review (circa 70%), including:
  • NDAs
  • MSAs
  • SaaS and licensing agreements
  • Supplier and partnership contracts
  • Consultancy/contractor agreements
  • DPAs
  • IP assignments

Stakeholder management

  • Advising founders and senior commercial teams directly
  • Managing expectations and turnaround times in a scale-up environment
  • Keeping matters moving with clear, practical legal guidance

Requirements (Must-Haves)

To be considered, you’ll need:
  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales)
  • Commercial / corporate-commercial experience with at least 2+ years’ PQE (guideline)
  • Strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills (this is a drafting-heavy role)
  • Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders without heavy supervision
  • Proven ability to deliver fast turnaround (often same-day / next-day)
  • Immediate availability or short notice strongly preferred

Desirable (Nice-to-Haves)

These are beneficial but not essential:
  • In-house experience and/or secondment exposure, particularly in tech environments
  • Experience with tech/SaaS and/or hardware-software commercial arrangements
  • Exposure to IP licensing
  • Working knowledge of UK GDPR / data protection (including DPAs)
  • Experience handling international commercial contracts (e.g., US/EU counterparties)

Location & Working Arrangement

  • London (client-facing team base)
  • Permanent, full-time

Salary & Benefits

  • £50,000–£60,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Hybrid or fully remote working (role-dependent)
  • High-autonomy position with direct client ownership
  • Exposure to a fast-growth technology business and a broad commercial contract portfolio
  • Career progression opportunity into a more senior client-lead / commercial management track as the relationship and workload grows
