Our client, a Top 40 UK accountancy practice within a national network, is growing its Manchester team and seeking an ambitious Accounts & Audit Senior to play a pivotal role in delivering client excellence whilst building towards leadership.

 

The Role: Overview

As an Accounts & Audit Senior, you will take ownership of a varied client portfolio, delivering high-quality audit and accounts work while mentoring junior staff and strengthening client relationships.

 

Key Responsibilities

Audit & Accounts Delivery

  • Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion in line with ISAs (UK)
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts under FRS 102 / UK GAAP
  • Manage a portfolio including limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements

Client Relationship Management

  • Act as a main point of contact for clients
  • Build trusted relationships and provide commercial, value-added advice
  • Identify opportunities to support additional advisory services

Team Leadership

  • Supervise, coach, and review work of junior team members
  • Provide technical guidance and support development
  • Contribute to internal training and team initiatives

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACA / ACCA qualified or finalist (completion within 12 months)
  • 2–5 years’ UK practice experience in audit and accounts
  • Experience handling multi-sector client portfolios

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of FRS 102, UK GAAP, and ISAs (UK)
  • Experience with CCH, Caseware, or similar software
  • Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills
  • Experience in audit planning, fieldwork, and completion

Key Attributes

  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Demonstrable leadership or supervisory experience
  • Proactive approach with ambition to progress to Manager level
