Job Description

Accounts Senior

Location: Lancaster

Salary: £35,000 – £42,000 dependent on experience, plus performance-based bonus

Experience: AAT qualified (or above) or QBE, with 3+ years’ UK practice experience

The Opportunity

A well-established Chartered Accountancy practice with almost 50 years of history is looking for an experienced Accounts Senior to join a growing and close-knit team.

This is a highly varied, hands-on role working across a broad client base, from sole traders through to limited companies with multi-million-pound turnovers, providing essential accounting and tax support. The firm also works with other accountancy practices and financial services firms, meaning the work is genuinely diverse.

This is a practice built around a simple but clear vision: to be the kind of firm that both clients and colleagues genuinely love being part of. That means proactive service, ongoing training, fair reward, and a team culture that people stay for.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Managing bookkeeping and preparing VAT returns for a portfolio of clients
  • Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
  • Preparing corporation tax computations and corporation tax returns
  • Preparing self-assessment tax returns
  • Supporting the wider team with ad-hoc work as required

What We’re Looking For

  • AAT qualified (or above), or qualified by experience (QBE)
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role within a UK accountancy practice
  • Experience with cloud-based accountancy software (Xero, Sage, or similar) preferred
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload and supporting across different areas of the business
  • Strong attention to detail, well organised, and confident managing deadlines

What’s On Offer
  • Salary £35,000 – £42,000 dependent on experience
  • Performance-based bonus scheme
  • Private health insurance
  • Hybrid working available
  • One professional membership covered per year
  • Ongoing CPD and training support
  • Parking provided nearby
  • Fully paid additional Christmas leave — time off between Christmas and New Year, on top of your standard holiday entitlement

Why This Role?

This is a practice that invests in its people — through regular training, a strong team culture, and genuinely interesting work across a varied client portfolio. If you are looking to join a firm where your contribution is recognised, your development is supported, and your career has room to grow, this is a strong platform to build from.
