Our client, a well-established and highly regarded independent accountancy practice in the Cleckheaton area, is seeking a talented Senior Accountant to join its growing team. The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality accounting and taxation services to a diverse client base, ranging from owner-managed businesses to established companies across multiple sectors.

Working directly with Partners and Senior Managers, you will manage assignments from start to finish while supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate.

 

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Preparation & Financial Reporting

  • Prepare year-end statutory accounts for:
    • Limited companies
    • LLPs
    • Partnerships
    • Sole traders
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review financial information and provide practical recommendations to clients.

Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and submit corporation tax returns and computations.
  • Prepare personal tax returns for a range of clients.
  • Assist with basic tax planning opportunities and client queries.

Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Act as a key point of contact for accounts and taxation queries.
  • Provide proactive support and advice to businesses and individuals.

Project & Practice Support

  • Assist Partners and Senior Managers with ad hoc assignments and specialist projects.
  • Support junior colleagues through delegation and mentoring opportunities.
  • Contribute to maintaining high standards of client service across the practice.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

Essential Requirements

  • ACA, ACCA, CA or equivalent professional qualification, or be a strong Qualified by Experience (QBE) candidate.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' UK accountancy practice experience.
  • Strong background within a general practice environment.
  • Experience preparing accounts for a variety of business entities.
  • Experience preparing corporation tax and personal tax returns.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Audit experience, although this is not essential.
  • Knowledge of:
    • UK GAAP
    • FRS 102
    • Corporation Tax
    • Self-Assessment Tax Returns
  • Experience using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to review work and provide guidance to junior team members.
