Family Lawyer
Location: Doncaster (hybrid)
Salary: £45,000 to £85,000
Experience: 1+ years’ PQE

Our client is a specialist family law practice with a strong reputation for practical, client-focused advice. They’re looking to add a Family Lawyer to their Doncaster team and are open to candidates from 1 year PQE upwards. The level of responsibility and supervision will be tailored to your experience. The firm already has plenty of enquiries, so a stable work flow is already waiting for you.
You’ll join a collaborative team with regular file reviews and constructive supervision, plus genuine scope to progress as you develop. The work is private family law and offers variety across both advisory and contentious matters, with the chance to get involved in business development and networking if that’s something you enjoy.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing or assisting on a varied private family law caseload (depending on experience)
- Taking instructions from new and existing clients and providing clear, practical advice
- Drafting correspondence, statements, applications and agreements
- Conducting negotiations with solicitors and litigants in person
- Attending client meetings, conferences and court hearings where appropriate
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and supporting the wider team
- Supporting marketing and business development activity, including networking
- Supervising and developing junior colleagues where sufficiently experienced
Typical Matters May Include
- Financial remedy proceedings and negotiations
- Pre-nuptial and post-nuptial agreements
What We’re Looking For
- A qualified Solicitor, CILEX Lawyer or Chartered Legal Executive with 1+ years’ PQE (or equivalent experience)
- Practical experience in private family law
- Strong client-care and communication skills
- Clear, accurate drafting and good attention to detail
- Professional, organised approach and ability to manage deadlines
- Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office
- Commercial awareness, including time recording and billing expectations in private family work
- Interest in networking and business development (desirable)

Working Arrangements
This role is based in Doncaster. The position is initially office based to support onboarding, supervision and integration into the team. Once you’ve established a sufficient caseload, the firm is open to agreeing homeworking days for work suited to focused remote working (such as drafting and file preparation), subject to client needs, supervision requirements and operational requirements.
