Accountancy Assistant Manager
Salary: £42,000 - £55,000 + Hybrid Working & Clear Progression

The Role
As an Accountancy Assistant Manager, you will support senior leadership whilst managing a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.
You will be responsible for delivering exceptional client service, reviewing technical work and helping to drive the continued success of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of SME, owner-managed business and corporate clients
- Reviewing statutory accounts prepared by junior team members
- Reviewing and overseeing corporation tax and personal tax compliance
- Preparing and reviewing management accounts
- Acting as a key point of contact for clients and providing proactive advice
- Supporting Partners and Managers with client meetings and advisory projects
- Monitoring workflow, deadlines and team performance
- Assisting with staff development, mentoring and performance management
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional services and add value to clients
- Ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and regulatory requirements
What We're Looking For
Essential Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified
- Minimum 4-6 years' UK accountancy practice experience
- Strong experience gained within a professional accountancy practice environment
- Proven experience managing a client portfolio
- Excellent understanding of UK statutory accounts preparation
- Experience reviewing accounts and tax compliance work
- Strong communication and relationship management skills
- Demonstrable experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively
Technical Skills
The successful candidate will ideally have experience with:
- Xero
- Sage
- QuickBooks
- IRIS or similar practice management software
- Microsoft Excel (Intermediate to Advanced)
- Cloud accounting systems and digital bookkeeping platforms
