Audit & Assurance Senior
Salary: 23-50k per annum
Location: Carlisle
Overview
We are supporting a well-established accountancy practice to hire an Audit & Assurance Senior. This is a client-facing role with responsibility for delivering high-quality audit work, supporting junior team members, and helping to keep engagements on track.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver audit assignments from planning through to completion, including fieldwork and file completion
- Prepare and review audit working papers and ensure compliance with relevant auditing standards
- Draft audit findings and support the preparation of management letters and reports
- Liaise directly with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and provide clear updates
- Support audit planning, including risk assessment, materiality, and audit programmes
- Supervise, coach, and review the work of trainees and junior colleagues
- Work closely with managers/partners to manage timelines, budgets, and quality
- Contribute to continuous improvement of audit processes and templates
- Support wider assurance work as required (for example, reviews and agreed-upon procedures)
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in external audit within an accountancy practice environment
- Working knowledge of UK auditing standards and audit methodology
- Strong file completion skills, with good attention to detail and clear documentation
- Comfortable communicating with clients and building trusted relationships
- Experience supervising or reviewing junior team members is beneficial
- Confident using audit software and Microsoft Excel
Qualifications
- ACA / ACCA part-qualified or qualified (or equivalent)
