Job Description

Commercial Property Solicitor (3–6 PQE)

Salary: £75,000–£95,000 + bonus

Location: London

Varied portfolio incl. rural estates & complex asset management

A genuinely broad Commercial Property role for a solicitor who enjoys high-quality landlord and tenant work, rural/landed estate matters, and the satisfaction of seeing deals through from instruction to completion. Our client offers a busy, supportive environment with real scope to take on more responsibility as you develop.

The Opportunity

This is a chance to join a well-regarded Commercial Property team advising an impressive mix of clients, from private landowners and trustees to developers, investors, charities and corporate occupiers. The work spans straightforward transactions through to complex schemes across sectors including retail, renewable energy, leisure and life sciences.

You’ll work closely with Partners and experienced fee-earners, while also collaborating with colleagues across the wider firm where matters overlap.

Key Responsibilities: Rural Property & Landed Estates

You will act for private landowners (individuals, trustees and family businesses) on a wide range of rural property matters, with a focus on sales and development, including:
  • Sales and purchases
  • Agricultural tenancies
  • Estate management (including easements and restrictive covenants)
  • Option agreements
  • Overage agreements
  • Development agreements and conditional contracts (variation and implementation)
  • First registrations
  • Property elements arising from private client/tax-driven advice

Key Responsibilities: Commercial Property (Landlord & Tenant / Asset Management)

You will also advise landlord and tenant clients, investors, trustees, charities and established estates on commercial property matters, including:
  • New leases, renewals and licences to assign/alter/sublet
  • Estate management advice in complex scenarios
  • Asset management
  • Freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals
  • Real estate finance support
  • Corporate support on property aspects of wider transactions

Requirements (Experience & Skills)

Our client is looking for someone who can handle a busy caseload and build strong client relationships.
Essential:
  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
  • 3–6 years’ PQE (guide only, strong candidates outside this range will be considered)
  • UK private practice experience in Commercial Property
  • Demonstrable experience across core areas such as:
    • Landlord & tenant leasing (leases, renewals, licences)
    • Acquisitions and disposals (freehold/leasehold)

  • A pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach with excellent attention to detail
Ideal attributes:
  • Confident communicating with clients via meetings, phone and email
  • Commercially aware, organised, and able to prioritise under pressure
  • Enthusiastic about business development and marketing (with support to build this)

Salary & Benefits

  • £75,000–£95,000 (dependent on experience)
  • Bonus (details to be confirmed)
Benefits package (to be confirmed during process) is expected to include:
  • Private medical insurance
  • Enhanced pension
  • Generous annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Life assurance
