Job Description
Private Client Solicitor
Salary: £45,000 – £65,000+ DOE
Location: Romford / East London
Profit-Related Bonus & Fast-Track Progression
An Established Firm. A Specialist Role. A Career-Defining Opportunity.
Our client is a long-standing, highly regarded law firm with deep roots in the East London and Essex community. With over 70 years of history serving a loyal and growing client base, they have built an enviable reputation for quality, bespoke legal services delivered by genuine specialists. This is not a volume-driven firm — it is a place where fee earners are trusted, supported, and rewarded for genuine expertise.
They are now seeking an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join their team in Romford, covering a varied and intellectually engaging caseload with a particular focus on elderly care law.
If you are a Private Client specialist with a passion for client relationships and a desire to grow within a firm that genuinely invests in its people, this is worth your attention.
What You Will Be Doing
You will manage a varied Private Client caseload from instruction through to completion, with a specific focus on elderly care law. Your responsibilities will include:
- Drafting Wills, including complex and high-value estate planning matters
- Preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney across property, financial, and health and welfare
- Probate and full estate administration, including extraction of Grants of Probate
- Inheritance Tax planning and succession strategy
- Trust drafting and administration
- Court of Protection matters
- Engaging in business development and networking activities within the local community
- Contributing to the continued growth and profile of the Private Client department
What Our Client Is Looking For
Essential
- 3+ years PQE in Private Client law, gained within a UK legal practice
- Demonstrable experience across the full breadth of Private Client work, with a strong grounding in elderly care law
- A solid track record of achieving fee targets and business development goals
- Enthusiasm for networking and practice development — local candidates are particularly encouraged to apply
- A client-focused, practical approach with excellent communication skills
- Strong administration and organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload independently
Desirable
- STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) qualification or membership
- SFE (Solicitors for the Elderly) accreditation or affiliation
- Experience using LEAP case management software
- Established local connections within the Romford, Havering, or broader East London and Essex area
What is on Offer
Our client offers a genuinely competitive and transparent package, built around individual contribution rather than departmental performance:
- Salary: £45,000 – £65,000+ DOE
- Profit-Related Bonus: An excellent individual bonus scheme based on your own billing performance — not diluted across a team or department
- Fast-Track Progression: Clear and accessible routes into management for those with the ambition to lead
- Holiday Allowance: 5.6 weeks per annum inclusive of bank holidays (full time)
- Christmas Closure: Additional discretionary leave between Christmas and New Year
- Birthday Leave: One additional day's leave for your birthday, after six months' service
- Company Pension Scheme
- Employee Discount
- On-Site Parking
- Dedicated Support Staff to manage administrative tasks, allowing you to focus on fee-earning work
- Staff Social Events throughout the year
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- An independently minded firm with over seven decades of heritage and a loyal, repeat client base
- A culture that rewards individual performance directly — your bonus reflects your efforts, not someone else's
- Genuine specialist work in a niche you have chosen to build your career in
- A firm that sets realistic billing targets — not inflated figures used as pressure tactics
- Dedicated support so you can focus on the legal work, not the admin
