Job Description

Court of Protection Senior Solicitor / FCILEx

Location: West Yorkshire (office based)

Salary: £60,000 to £80,000 plus bonus and benefits

Experience: 8+ years qualified

If you’re a Court of Protection lawyer who enjoys the strategic side of the work, running complex files properly, and helping shape a team, this is a strong opportunity to step into a senior role with genuine progression.

Our client is looking to appoint a Senior Solicitor or FCILEx (8+ years qualified) to join their Court of Protection team. You’ll manage a caseload of high-level, complex matters, supported by other solicitors and paralegals, with scope to supervise junior colleagues and contribute to the development and profile of the team.

This role is focused on complex, strategic Court of Protection work rather than litigated matters. You’ll have the autonomy to run your own caseload, while being part of a supportive team environment. There are good prospects for progression for the right person.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Managing your own caseload of complex Court of Protection matters
  • Handling high-level, strategic tasks, with support from solicitors and paralegals within the team
  • Delivering clear, practical advice to clients and stakeholders
  • Supervising and supporting more junior team members (or showing willingness to take this on)
  • Contributing to the development and marketing of the team
  • Working in line with the Office of the Public Guardian Deputy Standards for Professional Deputies

What We’re Looking For

  • Solicitor or FCILEx, 8+ years qualified
  • Substantial prior experience in Court of Protection work
  • Confident running your own caseload and dealing with complex matters
  • Comfortable taking ownership and working collaboratively within a team
  • Interest in supervision, mentoring and supporting junior colleagues
  • Professional, organised approach with strong attention to detail

What’s On Offer

  • Salary: £60,000 to £80,000 (depending on experience)
  • 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays
  • Loyalty holiday scheme
  • Option to purchase additional holidays
  • Contributory pension (auto-enrolment)
  • Discretionary annual bonus scheme
  • Paycare scheme
  • Death in service cover
  • Good prospects of career progression

Working Arrangements

Permanent, full-time role. Enhanced DBS check required prior to employment commencing.
