Job Description

Senior Accounting Manager / Client Manager

Location: West Yorkshire

Salary: c.£80,000 DOE

Are you a highly experienced, ACA/ACCA qualified accountant with extensive UK practice experience seeking a senior management role with high autonomy, direct partner-level influence, and top-tier regional compensation? Our client is a long-established, respected accountancy practice based in the West Yorkshire area (easily accessible from Keighley, Skipton, and Bradford). Known for their technical excellence, high client retention, and collaborative working culture, they are seeking an accomplished Senior Accounting Manager to lead an established team and manage a key client portfolio.

The Opportunity

In this key leadership position, you will take full ownership of a diverse client portfolio—spanning sole traders, partnerships, LLPs, and sizeable limited companies—serving as the primary point of contact alongside senior partners. Operating as a core operational lead within the office, you will supervise and review the work of a team of accountants, manage complex statutory accounts and personal/corporate tax filings, conduct client visits, and oversee day-to-day workflow to maintain exceptional service standards.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Qualifications & Experience: ACA or ACCA qualified with substantial, long-standing UK accountancy practice experience (demonstrating extensive technical depth in practice management).

  • Portfolio & Client Leadership: Proven ability to manage an independent portfolio, build trusted client relationships, and liaise directly at senior partner/director level.

  • Technical Mastery: Comprehensive technical expertise in statutory accounts preparation (from both incomplete and computerized records), company and personal tax return preparation, and management accounts across varied business entities.

  • Team Supervision: Strong managerial experience supervising, mentoring, and reviewing the work of a team of accountants to ensure quality control and deadline compliance.

  • Software Proficiency: Excellent working knowledge of major accounting software (preferably CCH, Xero, and Sage) alongside advanced MS Excel skills.

  • Working Model: Dedicated, office-based role (Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm) offering stability, structured daily operations, and clear team collaboration in modern premises.

Package & Benefits

  • Base Salary: £80,000 per annum (exceptional market-leading salary reflective of senior practice experience and managerial responsibility).

  • Working Hours: Fixed, predictable office hours (Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm) supporting a healthy work-life balance.

  • Leadership Influence: High-visibility position working directly with firm partners and driving key practice workflows and ad-hoc commercial projects.

  • Environment & Health: Workplace pension scheme, dedicated on-site parking, generous annual leave allowance, and ongoing professional development support.
