Job Description

Conveyancing Fee Earner (1+ PQE / Experienced)

Location: Chelmsford Area

Salary:  £35,000 – £50,000+ DOE

Are you an ambitious Conveyancer or Property Fee Earner seeking a vibrant, commercially driven environment where high ethical standards, family-run values, and genuine career progression align? Our client is a highly reputable, rapidly expanding law firm in Chelmsford known for its exceptional client care, strong commercial momentum, and supportive team culture. Experiencing sustained transactional volume across their property department, they are seeking a motivated Conveyancing Fee Earner to manage an independent residential property caseload and contribute to departmental growth.

The Opportunity

In this dynamic fee-earning position, you will join an experienced conveyancing team handling residential property matters across every stage of the transaction lifecycle. Operating within a collaborative, fast-paced environment, you will act as a key contact for clients, estate agents, and lenders while managing files through to exchange and completion. Designed for a proactive practitioner—whether a Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, Legal Executive, or experienced Conveyancing Executive—this role offers high operational variety, dedicated career development support, and clear pathways to accelerate your legal career.

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Qualifications & Experience: Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer (CLC), Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx) with 1+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE), or an unqualified Conveyancing Executive with a proven track record of managing an independent conveyancing caseload.

  • Full Caseload Management: Comprehensive practical knowledge of running freehold and leasehold conveyancing files from initial instruction through to exchange and completion with minimal supervision.

  • Title & Enquiry Handling: Expertise in checking contracts, reviewing mortgage offers and search results, and effectively resolving freehold and leasehold title enquiries (experience with new build transactions is beneficial but not essential).

  • Client Care & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional communication skills—confident, articulate, and welcoming—with a passion for providing top-class client service and building strong relationships with local referrers.

  • Commercial Mindset: Proactive attitude toward achieving monthly fee targets and KPIs, alongside an enthusiasm for collaborating with colleagues to attract new clients and expand market presence.

Package & Working Structure

  • Competitive Remuneration: £35,000 – £50,000 base salary per annum (commensurate with qualification status, PQE, and overall fee-earning experience).

  • Workplace Environment: Office-based position in Chelmsford within a modern, personality-led culture that balances high professional standards with regular team socials.

  • Generous Annual Leave: 26 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays, an annual leave loyalty scheme, and complete office closure between Christmas and New Year.

  • Healthcare & Wellness: Comprehensive Medicash health package (covering health, dental, and eyecare costs) plus free fruit provided in the office.

  • Perks & Discounts: Discounted parking with Q-Park Chelmsford, Dress Down Fridays, staff referral schemes, and fully funded ongoing professional training courses.

  • Career Trajectory: Structured mentoring and career development pathways designed to support fast-track professional progression.
