The Opportunity

An established and approachable South West London law firm is seeking an experienced Residential Property Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer or Conveyancing Executive to join its busy Property team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced conveyancing professional who can manage residential property transactions independently while contributing to a supportive, client-focused department.

You will handle a varied caseload of freehold and leasehold matters from initial instruction through to completion and post-completion. Clients will include first-time buyers, home movers, buy-to-let landlords and property investors.

Experience in Commercial Property would be advantageous but is not essential. The firm would also welcome applicants who have developed relationships with local estate agents, brokers, property professionals or other potential sources of referral work.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing a varied Residential Conveyancing caseload from initial instruction through to completion and post-completion
  • Handling freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
  • Advising first-time buyers, home movers, landlords and property investors
  • Reviewing titles, searches, enquiries, contracts and supporting documentation
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, transfers and other transactional documents
  • Liaising with clients, estate agents, lenders, mortgage brokers and other solicitors
  • Managing exchanges and completions
  • Completing post-completion requirements, including Stamp Duty Land Tax and Land Registry applications
  • Maintaining accurate files and progressing matters efficiently
  • Providing clear, practical and commercially aware advice
  • Delivering a consistently high standard of client care
  • Developing relationships with local professionals and referral contacts
  • Supporting the wider Property team where required

About You

Applications are welcomed from:

  • Residential Property Solicitors with approximately three or more years’ PQE
  • Experienced Licensed Conveyancers
  • Experienced Conveyancing Executives with a strong record of independently managing residential property files

You should also demonstrate:

  • Recent Residential Conveyancing experience gained within a UK Legal Practice
  • The ability to manage freehold and leasehold transactions independently from instruction through to completion
  • Strong technical knowledge of the conveyancing process
  • Confidence working independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • A consistent commitment to client care
  • The ability to manage competing priorities across a busy caseload
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in business development
  • Confidence building relationships with clients and professional contacts
  • Familiarity with Legal Practice case-management systems

Experience using LEAP would be beneficial, although full training can be provided.

Commercial Property experience or an established network within the South West London property market would also be advantageous but is not essential.

Salary and Benefits

The firm is offering:

  • A salary of £55,000 to £70,000, depending on experience, qualification and the value the successful candidate can bring to the team
  • 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Workplace pension scheme
  • Genuine professional-development opportunities
  • A varied and established Residential Property caseload
  • Opportunities to develop referral relationships within an active local property market
  • A supportive and approachable working environment
  • The opportunity to contribute to the continued development of the Property team

Candidates offering substantial experience, an established local network, Commercial Property exposure or a strong history of fee generation are likely to be considered towards the upper end of the salary range.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position would suit an experienced Residential Property professional seeking:

  • Greater ownership of a varied caseload
  • A firm with an established presence in the local property market
  • Opportunities to build professional and referral relationships
  • A supportive environment in which to develop professionally
  • The chance to contribute to the future growth of a Property team
