Family Law Solicitor – York
Are you a passionate and experienced Family Law Solicitor ready for the next step in your career? We’re working with a well-regarded law firm based in central York, seeking to grow their successful and expanding Family team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with around 5+ years’ PQE to join a thriving private family law practice and play a key role in high-quality, often complex matters.
About the Role
You’ll be managing a broad and rewarding caseload of private family matters, advising clients with professionalism, empathy, and strategic insight. The work includes:

Divorce and separation

Financial remedy cases

Private children matters
-
Pre- and post-nuptial agreements

Cohabitation disputes
-
Domestic abuse and injunctions
This is a senior-level opportunity, offering the chance to contribute to the department’s ongoing success, mentor junior team members, and take part in wider business development.
Key Responsibilities

Provide expert legal advice with a focus on practical, client-friendly solutions

Represent clients effectively in negotiations and court proceedings

Maintain and develop strong client relationships built on trust and care

Contribute to team growth and the firm’s profile through business development activities

Keep up to date with family law legislation and emerging case law

Support and mentor junior team members
What We’re Looking For

Qualified Solicitor with a strong background in family law (typically 5+ years PQE)

Demonstrated experience in handling a varied private family law caseload

Excellent interpersonal skills and a compassionate, professional approach

Strong communication and negotiation skills
