Private Client Solicitor/Fee Earner

Location: Darlington

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 (dependent on experience)

The Role

You'll be managing a comprehensive caseload of private client matters, providing expert legal advice on wills, estate planning, probate administration, and trust matters. Working with individuals and families, you'll have the opportunity to guide clients through important life decisions while developing long-term professional relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Handle a varied caseload of private client matters including wills, probate, and estate planning
• Draft wills, lasting powers of attorney, and advance directives
• Administer estates from grant of probate through to final distribution
• Provide strategic advice on inheritance tax planning and mitigation
• Handle trust creation, administration, and variation matters
• Conduct client meetings and provide compassionate guidance during sensitive times
• Manage probate applications and deal with HMRC on inheritance tax matters
• Draft complex legal documents including trust deeds and estate accounts
• Liaise with financial advisors, accountants, and other professional advisors
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and generate repeat business

What We're Looking For

• Qualified Solicitor or experienced Fee Earner with private client experience (2+ years PQE preferred)
• Strong knowledge of wills, probate, and estate planning law
• Experience in inheritance tax planning and trust administration
• Excellent client care and relationship-building skills
• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities
• Compassionate approach when dealing with bereaved families
• Commercial awareness and business development mindset
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage a varied caseload effectively
• Interest in developing expertise across all private client areas
