Legal Assistant – Wills & Probate
Location: North Leeds
Salary: £23,000 to £28,000 (dependent on experience)
Experience: Previous customer service or client-facing experience (legal support experience beneficial)
An award-winning Leeds firm is looking for a Legal Assistant to join its busy Wills & Probate team.
This is a great entry point for someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in getting the detail right, and wants to build a long-term career in private client work. You will be supported to learn new skills and develop your confidence in a professional legal environment.
Working under the supervision of a fee earner, you will support the team with day-to-day file administration and client care.
Key tasks will include:
- Taking initial details from new clients and completing new enquiry forms
- Opening new client files (Wills & Probate and Family)
- Making and receiving client calls, taking messages and arranging appointments
- Supporting fee earners with file work including letters, document creation and general correspondence
- Attending client meetings with a fee earner where required (for example, will signings or collecting documents)
- Meeting clients in reception to take instructions or provide assistance if fee earners are unavailable
- Requesting and banking cheques where required
- Closing files and preparing matters for archiving
- General administration including photocopying, filing and preparing bundles
- Assisting with marketing activity and wider team support as needed
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Experience in a customer service or client-facing role
- Confidence communicating with clients and other professionals
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Accurate keyboard skills and a confident telephone manner
- Good timekeeping and attention to detail
- A self-motivated approach and willingness to learn
- Flexible attitude and a team-first mindset
Desirable:
- Some knowledge of Wills & Probate (for example, LPC elective or prior exposure)
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Experience supporting elderly and vulnerable clients
- Experience using Proclaim
