Semi Senior Accountant
Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 DOE

Are you an ambitious Semi Senior Accountant looking to build your career within a supportive and forward-thinking accountancy practice?
Our client is seeking a motivated accounting professional to join their growing team in West Yorkshire. This role offers the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of clients, gain exposure to a varied range of businesses, and develop your technical skills across accounts, bookkeeping, VAT and management reporting, with a clear pathway towards senior and management positions.
The Role
Working closely with senior members of the team, you will manage a portfolio of small business clients while supporting the delivery of high-quality accounting services.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of clients using cloud accounting software
- Processing bookkeeping records and maintaining accurate financial information
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Liaising with clients via telephone and email
- Supporting the firm's Making Tax Digital (MTD) services
- Assisting with accounts preparation up to trial balance
- Supporting the production of management accounts
- Managing deadlines and prioritising workload effectively
- Working collaboratively within a supportive team environment
- Occasional travel to clients when required
About You
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' recent UK accountancy practice experience
- Experience preparing accounts for:
- Sole Traders
- Limited Companies
- Partnerships
- Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge
- Experience using cloud accounting software, including:
- Xero
- QuickBooks
- Sage Business Cloud
- FreeAgent (desirable)
- Ability to prepare accounting records to trial balance level
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Desirable
- AAT qualified or studying
- Experience preparing management accounts
- Knowledge of Making Tax Digital requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
