Costs Draftsman
Location: Leeds
Salary: £35,000 to £55,000
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ costs experience
Our client is looking to recruit a Costs Draftsman into its Leeds team.
This is a great opportunity for a strong costs all-rounder who enjoys drafting, working to deadlines, and running a busy caseload with a high standard of accuracy.
The Role You will draft Bills and costs documents across the firm, with a particular focus on Personal Injury work (including industrial disease, psychiatric injury and clinical negligence).
Depending on the needs of the team, your work is likely to include:
- Drafting Bills of Costs
- Drafting Schedules of Costs
- Drafting Estimates of Costs
- Drafting Statements of Costs for summary assessment
- Drafting Precedent H documents
- Drafting Precedent R documents
- Managing your own caseload and the full costs cycle
- Working with both paper files and a paperless case management system
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant costs drafting experience
- Strong working knowledge of the CPR, with a particular focus on costs rules
- Experience supporting Part 7 and Part 8 litigation matters
- Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills
- Confident working to tight deadlines and managing competing priorities
- Strong IT skills, including drafting Bills using Excel format
Desirable
- Experience using Cost Master
- Familiarity with Proclaim (helpful but not essential)
- Experience drafting across a range of practice areas, not just PI
