Costs Draftsman

Location: Leeds 

Salary: £35,000 to £55,000

Experience: Minimum 3 years’ costs experience

 

Our client is looking to recruit a Costs Draftsman into its Leeds team.

This is a great opportunity for a strong costs all-rounder who enjoys drafting, working to deadlines, and running a busy caseload with a high standard of accuracy.

The Role You will draft Bills and costs documents across the firm, with a particular focus on Personal Injury work (including industrial disease, psychiatric injury and clinical negligence).

 

Depending on the needs of the team, your work is likely to include:

  • Drafting Bills of Costs
  • Drafting Schedules of Costs
  • Drafting Estimates of Costs
  • Drafting Statements of Costs for summary assessment
  • Drafting Precedent H documents
  • Drafting Precedent R documents
  • Managing your own caseload and the full costs cycle
  • Working with both paper files and a paperless case management system

 

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant costs drafting experience
  • Strong working knowledge of the CPR, with a particular focus on costs rules
  • Experience supporting Part 7 and Part 8 litigation matters
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong numerical skills
  • Confident working to tight deadlines and managing competing priorities
  • Strong IT skills, including drafting Bills using Excel format

Desirable

  • Experience using Cost Master
  • Familiarity with Proclaim (helpful but not essential)
  • Experience drafting across a range of practice areas, not just PI
