Clear progression to Assistant Manager

If you’re an Audit Senior who enjoys owning jobs end-to-end, working with a supportive team, and developing your career without the “big firm red tape”, this could be a great next step. Our client is a well-established accountancy practice with a strong local reputation, offering a varied audit portfolio and genuine progression for people who want it.

You’ll join a team that values quality, development and doing things properly, with the autonomy to run audits while still having the support of experienced seniors and managers around you.

The Role: What you’ll be doing

As Audit Senior, you’ll take responsibility for planning and delivering audit assignments and supporting junior team members.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading audits from planning through to completion, including on-site work where required
  • Preparing and reviewing audit files and financial statements
  • Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a day-to-day point of contact
  • Identifying and communicating audit findings clearly and professionally
  • Supporting and mentoring junior staff on assignments
  • Working closely with managers/partners to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met

What our client is looking for

To be a strong match for this role, you’ll typically have:
  • 3+ years’ UK accountancy practice experience (audit-focused)
  • Experience leading audits (or acting as the main senior on-site)
  • ACA / ACCA part-qualified or qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of UK auditing standards and compliance
  • Confidence preparing/reviewing audit files and financial statements
  • Excellent communication skills for client-facing work
  • Full UK driving licence (preferred, depending on client site requirements)

Location & working arrangements

  • Sheffield (office-based with client site visits as required)
  • Working pattern and flexibility will be discussed at interview, with a focus on what supports delivery and team collaboration.

Salary & benefits

  • £35,000–£45,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualification level)
  • Study support (where applicable)
  • Holiday allowance (plus bank holidays)
  • Pension scheme
  • Professional development and training
  • Clear progression pathway (Senior → Assistant Manager and beyond, based on performance)
  • Supportive team culture with structured feedback and development
