The Opportunity

Join a Leading Private Client & Tax Team

As a Probate Executive, you will play a key role in managing a varied and high-quality caseload, working alongside experienced professionals in a well-established Private Client & Tax group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a full caseload of probate and estate administration matters from instruction through to completion
  • Prepare and draft key legal documents including:
    • Wills, inheritance tax returns (IHT), estate accounts, and applications for Grants of Probate
  • Liaise with clients, executors, beneficiaries, HMRC, financial institutions, and the Probate Registry
  • Deliver clear, compassionate, and professional advice to clients during sensitive circumstances
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory standards (AML, GDPR, SRA requirements)
  • Maintain accurate records using case management systems and ensure matters progress efficiently
  • Support billing processes and cost management
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and wider team activities

 

About You

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–6 years’ experience handling probate and estate administration matters within a UK law firm
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Inheritance Tax (IHT)
    • Trusts and estate accounting
  • UK legal experience is essential

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in case management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to draft accurate and compliant legal documentation
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Desirable

  • CILEx, STEP or equivalent professional qualification
  • Broader Private Client exposure including Wills, LPAs, and Court of Protection work
