Real Estate Investments Lawyer (Associate)

Location: London (hybrid working)

Salary: £95,000 to £140,000 (dependent on experience)

Experience: NQ to 4 years’ PQE (Corporate Real Estate / Real Estate Investments)

If you’re a corporate transactional lawyer who wants to specialise in real estate, this is a strong opportunity to join a growing Real Estate Investments team in London, advising on complex, high-value real estate investment and corporate real estate transactions.

This role suits someone with solid corporate M&A and joint venture experience who enjoys fast-paced deal work, likes taking ownership of workstreams, and wants to build a long-term career in the real estate sector.

Our client is looking for Associates (ideally NQ to 4 years’ PQE) to support a busy Real Estate Investments practice advising on corporate real estate M&A, real estate-backed joint ventures and indirect real estate investment structures. The work spans domestic and cross-border transactions, with exposure to sophisticated investment structures and multi-disciplinary deal teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Advising on the structuring, establishment, operation, restructuring and exit of joint ventures and other indirect real estate investment structures (including corporate vehicles, partnerships and unit trust structures)
  • Supporting complex corporate M&A transactions in the real estate sector, including cross-border deals and portfolio transactions
  • Acting as a point of contact for a range of clients and stakeholders, providing clear, strategic advice and supporting relationship management
  • Driving transactions forward by taking day-to-day responsibility for matter conduct, managing risk, and coordinating input from colleagues across tax, finance, real estate and other relevant disciplines
  • Supporting complex asset and portfolio management mandates, including reorganisations, refinancings and exits
  • Contributing to business development activity, including pitches, thought leadership and client relationship programmes
  • Supervising and supporting the development of junior lawyers and trainees, providing constructive feedback and helping build a cohesive, high-performing team

What We’re Looking For

  • Qualified Solicitor (England and Wales) at NQ to 4 years’ PQE (or equivalent) with experience in corporate transactions
  • Strong interest in focusing your practice on the real estate sector
  • Experience advising on M&A and joint venture transactions, including drafting and negotiating key documents
  • Exposure to indirect real estate investment structures and/or structured real estate joint ventures (helpful, but not essential at junior levels)
  • Ability to take day-to-day responsibility for matters, manage timetables and deliver high-quality work with appropriate supervision
  • Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills, with excellent attention to detail
  • Commercial mindset and sector curiosity, with the ability to understand client drivers and translate them into practical advice
  • Collaborative approach and confidence working within multi-disciplinary teams

Helpful (but not essential)

  • Experience advising on structured real estate joint ventures, including single-asset JVs (development and investment) and platform arrangements (including club deals and quasi-fund investments)
  • Experience working with a range of corporate structures and across jurisdictions commonly used for real estate investment transactions

What’s On Offer

  • Hybrid working (working pattern to be confirmed, depending on role and client requirements)
  • Competitive financial package, including discretionary bonus (performance dependent)
  • Private medical insurance, with options to upgrade and add family cover
  • Pension with matched employer contributions (up to 5%)
  • Life assurance (4x salary) and income protection cover
  • 25 days’ annual leave, rising to 27 with service, plus the option to buy or sell up to one week per year
  • Sabbatical leave options (subject to eligibility)
  • Health and wellbeing support, including 24/7 employee assistance programme and counselling
  • Wellbeing subsidy towards gym, sports membership or wellbeing apps
  • Cycle to Work scheme and interest-free season ticket loan
  • CSR day for volunteering (1 day per year) and payroll giving scheme
  • Discounts and rewards portal, plus peer and manager recognition schemes
